Engagement Is Currency: Lessons From Indy’s Favorite Facebook Comedian
“People spend money where they’re engaged.” Read that again.
Recently, I watched someone with a large local following raise money for a personal business purchase... and honestly, it reminded me of a reality I try to teach my clients often. The ability to raise money quickly can feel impossible for many people — business owners, nonprofit leaders, and even everyday changemakers. Watching someone else raise funds overnight can leave you wondering, “Okay... what am I doing wrong?”
👉🏽 Money doesn’t always flow to the person who needs it most. It flows to the person who has the audience’s attention.
You can disagree with someone’s content.
You can feel like others are more deserving.
You can even feel frustrated watching support go to someone who may not actually need it…
…but none of that changes the fact that people spend money where they are engaged.
And that’s the uncomfortable truth most nonprofits and businesses overlook.
Whether you’re trying to:
• raise startup funds
• launch a program
• sell a service
• or run a community fundraiser
…the outcome is tied to ONE thing:
✨ Are people emotionally connected enough to care, click, share, or give?
Not liking social media doesn’t change the landscape.
Not preferring the spotlight doesn’t stop the world from responding to visibility.
Not needing the attention doesn’t make engagement any less necessary.
So the question becomes:
➡️ How are you engaging your audience?
➡️ How are you making them feel connected to your mission, your work, your results, or your story?
➡️ How are you showing up so people WANT to support you?
Now, the outcome doesn't seem so effortless, right? In fact, it's strategy (intentional or not).
Because whether we like it or not, engagement drives support.
Support drives impact and impact drives sustainability.
If you’re a nonprofit leader or small business owner trying to figure out how to build the right kind of engagement, (the kind that attracts donors, clients, and real community backing)
that’s literally where I come in.
📌 This is the work I help my clients do every day.
📌 This is how you build an audience that supports your mission.
📌 This is what turns attention into actual results.
If you’re ready to strengthen your engagement, clarify your story, and finally build the kind of support you deserve?
Connect with me. Let’s get you where you’re trying to go.
